Many Christian men were taught that their sexuality is a problem to fight. Jesus Has a Penis offers a different path. Drawing on his own religious upbringing and years of work as a therapist, Brannon Patrick, LCSW, shows how shame-based control keeps men stuck, and what it looks like to bring faith and sexuality together instead. It is direct, honest and compassionate. Along the way, Pause and Reflect questions help you apply it to your own story.

For years, Brannon was the one preaching purity. As a therapist specializing in “sex addiction,” he traveled from church to church, teaching men to fight their sexual thoughts. Session after session, he watched sincere men stay stuck in the same cycle of shame, and he realized the approach had it backwards. The book puts it plainly: “Jesus has a penis.” As Brannon writes, “If the incarnation means anything, it means God wasn’t too dignified to become fully and specifically human, down to the biology.”

Why it matters that Jesus experienced sexuality. What normal male sexuality is, and how to teach it to your son. How we are taught shame around sexuality. What to do about masturbation and pornography. What Scripture actually says about sex. How two sexual people can be in a healthy relationship together. How to integrate healthy sexuality into your life.

For Christian men who grew up believing their sexuality was something to fight, and who are tired of the cycle of shame, confession and starting over. It can also help partners understand what many men carry. You don’t have to choose between your faith and your sexuality to read it: the book takes both seriously. This book is not a replacement for therapy. If you want support along the way, you can work with Brannon Patrick, LCSW.

The book comes in three formats, each with the same 14 chapters and Pause and Reflect questions throughout. The PDF, 106 pages, is $15.00 here: right after checkout, you land on your download page. We also email you the link, so you can download it again anytime. Read it on your phone, tablet or computer, or print it out. The paperback, $19.99, and the hardcover, $29.99, are printed and shipped by Amazon.

What listeners and readers say

I believe when men set themselves on a path of self-reflection to understand how they are harder wired and why they think, feel and behave the way they do they open themselves up to the potential of greater success. If I understand why I do what I do, I become more empowered to make healthier decisions. Love your work. Thanks for your efforts to help others.

I just listened to the episode on objectifying that woman-and Oh. My. Goodness. Brannon gave me a total core-shaking smackdown when he talked about the betrayed objectifying others via comparison-that other women don't become daughters of God, but become the embodiments everything the betrayed feels she isn't- 😳 What a wake up call! I am so grateful for your podcasts! They have been more helpful than I can even express. Thank you for being brave!

Amen! it amazing how once I embraced recovery it trickled into everything else in my life and I am now better able to deal with situations and moments that would have felt so exhausting or scary a few years ago. This is a powerful and true video! It also embraces living and not chasing that one moment where everything will finally be great! It's seeing the greatness in pain and pleasure.
